Night fell upon the castle and it's grounds, showing those beautiful stars, just barely. Not too cold, and not too warm. It was a perfect weather to go out and see the stars before dinner and curfew. Thats what she needed, a time to get everything out her hair and just lay back to see the sky. Wind blowing just gentle enough to where it couldn't push you away, but it could wrinkle your clothes a little more than an average days worth. It was just then when the sun had set and the night had began to fall over the grounds, all so slowly.
Ariel stumbled, bare footed, out of the Entrance Hall over the steps. Yet she stood straight again onces walking down the somewhat large path way from here to there. She walked quietly, like always, yet stumbling around upping rocks from the path. Silence seeming to stalk her as she walked across the grass to cut over to a hill. A hill that was perfect for gazing at the shinning stars in the light, night falling, sky. On her way up the hill she stubbed her toe on a rock, one reason to never go out bare foot. Ever. But she did, unfortunately and she payed the price. It wasn't so bad, once you by passed the small shock running through your toes.
Reaching the top of the hill she sat down, only to slide down a couple 12 inches to the side of the hill where it began to curve. Able to stand on the curve, Ariel noticed flowers on the hill, not many but still they were there. With a sigh, Ariel laid down in the grass in front of the sign and watched as the clouds rolled by, picking some flowers carelessly and making chains out of them. She carefully took each stem and tied them around the other and then looped them all together and made a flower headband like her mother had taught her, which seemed forever ago. She slipped it on and then laced her fingers behind her head, concentrating on the clouds once more.
Her mind wondered around thinking of home and how her mother and her used to just sit at the park picking small flowers from the ground. With a small smile she sighed once more in happiness.
"So you carefully slip this stem around the other stem, lightly tug at the ends and a small loop with form as a knot. Keep doing it to all of them and continue to add a flower on."Her mother's smile glowed brightly as she showed Ariel the easy steps.
"Slip this stem around the other.. Tug lightly, loop, and knot! Mom, I got it!" Ariel exclaimed as she showed her mother the tied flowers she was so proud of. It was then that Ariel was only 8 and loved to stay with her mother. She still, now, liked to do such with her mother. Only, when she did she knew how to make the headband, and they'd speak of things that happened during school or during her mom's remodeling with her father on the house. It seemed every year there was something new.
Ariel woke up with a start, her flower headband falling off. She had dozed off while cloud watching. She shook her head, sitting up and looking back up at the sky, it seemed to have been only an hours doze. That’s good, dinner wouldn't be starting just yet she supposed.
